Brief Comparison between Google Pixel 4XL and Huawei P30 Pro

It looks like Google has put great emphasis on the software and camera in its new Pixel 4 phones. The Pixel 4XL is the bigger phone in this series and it comes with many attractive features and perks. But there is another phone that seems to have kept up pretty well in this competition. It’s the Huawei P30 Pro – a handset with amazing design, powerful specs, and an impressive camera system.

In this article, we are going to talk about both of the phones so that it will be easier for you to decide which phone is going to be better.

Design
Pixel 3XL came with a super-deep notch which didn’t look pretty well. Google Pixel 4XL doesn’t have this camera notch. However, there is a large bezel on the top. On the backside, there is a matte finish instead of a glossy finished glass.

Huawei P30 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a glossy finish on the back. This finish, along with the attractive color patterns, looks pretty amazing. On the front, there is a tear-drop notch which doesn’t result in a bigger distraction during your interaction with the screen. Screen is curved on both sides of the phone.

Screen
Google has used 6.3in OLED display with QHD+ resolution in Pixel 4XL. On the other hand, P30 Pro has a larger 6.47in screen with a pixel resolution of just 1080p.

Another advantage that Pixel 4XL has to offer over P30 Pro is the higher 90Hz refresh rate of its screen. This refresh rate is certainly much better than 90Hz refresh rate in P30 Pro.

Camera

Google Pixel 4XL utilizes a better camera pack which is nicely backed up by impressive AI based software working in the backend. Google has put a telephoto lens in the Pixel 4 series for the first time. As a matter of fact, the Pixel 4 series is the first Pixel series to get a second lens. The two cameras on the rear include a 12MP main lens and a 16MP telephoto sensor. Strong algorithm-based software provides great results. Night mode is even better as it doesn’t only brighten up the photos but noise is also reduced drastically.

While Huawei P30 Pro doesn’t have strong software support like Pixel 4XL does, it has the feature which a majority of flagships does not have; i.e. a 10x hybrid zoom that uses the mix of periscope lens and digital enhancements. This camera system works fantastically well. The night mode of P30 Pro is also up to the mark.

Performance
Both, Pixel 4XL and Huawei P30 Pro, do not differ much in terms of performance. Pixel 4XL is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 chipset which controls performance of the handset. The Android 10 is pretty compatible with this chipset. You will find this handset snappy and quite capable when it comes to launching bigger apps and playing games.

Huawei P30 Pro uses Kirin 980 chip which performs as good as Snapdragon 855.

Battery
The 3,700mAh battery pack used in Pixel 4 sounds pretty good on papers but it is practically underwhelming. The battery lasts a day with the modest use. If you push a bit harder, you will be reaching the charging cable even before the evening.

Huawei P30 Pro, on the other hand, uses 4,200mAh battery which is not only a physically bigger unit but it has higher endurance. With a bit harsh usage, the phone’s battery is capable to stay up for an entire day. If you are using the phone in a modest manner, you may be able to keep the phone alive for a major part of the second day over a single charge.
